Mr. Gregory Kane has served as the musical director of the Finger Lakes Concert Band since September 2013 and is thrilled to continue celebrating the return of live, local music in the Finger Lakes region. He is currently in his 20th year of teaching music in NYS public schools and is currently a high school music teacher and PK-12 Department Chair with the Canandaigua City School District. Greg is a passionate believer that music education plays an essential role in the development of every child, and that musical experiences in school are unparalleled opportunities for student growth. As a graduate of the Crane School of Music and Ithaca College, he holds degrees in Music Education and French horn performance. His current musical interests include playing jazz piano and listening to a wide variety of music. Throughout his teaching career, Greg has been invited to conduct numerous Area All-State and All-County bands across New York State. he lives in Shortsville, NY along with his terrifically supportive wife, their two children, a cat named Oscar Meow-Meow Peterson, and their small flock of chickens.
